Within this nearly year-long hiatus, I decided to start a new series that shifts gears from the subject matter of my previous one. I do plan on continuing work based off of dreaming, but I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea to expand my content. While these next topics bring out emotions that I still struggle with, I feel the need to express this part of me through my work. As a result, I decided to create a character to accompany me along the way, kind of like a guide through my own thoughts. This is something I have never done, despite the fact that I’ve imagined and drawn characters as general sketch practice, so the process of developing a unique personality is novel to me. As I’ve created this character, who I have yet to name, I have gotten to know her mannerisms, her style of movement, and choice in clothing. With each aspect of her persona that I develop, I seem to unlock a new part of her existence and it feels as if I’m gaining a new friend who will help me deliver my message to my community.
And as I return to this post and contemplate my character’s name, I find one rather fitting to her nature as a “tour guide” to my mind. Everyone, meet TG.
